Tom Makowecki's Yearlings

A 'Thank you' goes to all you participants who have the courage to step to the plate when and where it counts. This is how you can create or fortify the reputation of being able to judge the sporting value of a yearling racing pigeon by just looking at the bird's eye. Such a reputation cannot be retained by hiding for fear of being less than 100% correct.
You are invited to try your hand at the following game:
Below you will find thumbnails of the 17 eyes of Tom Makowecki's 2002 yearlings. (Clicking on any thumbnail will enlarge it for you)

All images were taken under identical conditions and received identical processing!
It will be your challenge, should you accept it, to select the top 8 birds in this group of 17. These 2002 yearlings will be graded according to their standing in the ace yearling category as determined by the CCRPA at the end of the 2002 race season.

This game is now closed.

I expect 13 to be the best race performer because:
I looked first at the brightness of the eye. It has a small pupil. A clearly defined circle of Correlation. The seperation between the pupil & correlation is sharply defined. It also seems to have a good Iris it is quite mountainous. The Vermeyan ring is not very dark. However I think it being dark is largely due to Shadow. However this is all very subjective. As a photographer I know that light is measured in degrees. The least amount of variation in sunshine, a shadow accidently cast makes a lot of change. Thanks for the fun. Les
